A New Threat For Symbian?

Dear readers,

For the past days we have seen rumors and speculations that the Google company made their own device. Specifically, it will be an Android device which the company itself developed and manufactured. It’s the first Google phone that’s rumored to be released in Q1 2010. HTC and Google partnered in making this phone, from SW to HW and naming it Nexus One.

As you all know the specs and the phone itself is still not official until the company reveals and launches it. But around the web it seems that secrets can’t be hidden, leaked videos and pictures along with the Nexus One specs are everywhere.

First let’s find out the specs of this “rumored” (but known to universe) device and we can see if this is a real threat to the mobile kingdom. Also, we will show a leaked video that has been roaming the web that some big company is constantly trying to disable. Thankfully, some guys are smarter than those arse and still shared the video.

Basic and main specs of HTC Nexus One (Android 2.1) confirmed:

  • OS: Android 2 (Eclair), upgradeable to 2.1
  • CPU: QUALCOMM QSD 8250, 1GHZ
  • 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 854×480 pixels
  • 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, 4GB microSD in-box expandable to 32GB
  • 5 megapixel camera with mechanical AF and LED flash
  • Removable 1400mAH Battery
  • HSPA 900 / 1700 / 2100, 7.2Mbps down and 2Mbps up — in other words, yes to T-Mobile 3G and no to AT&T 3G, though you’ll still be fine on EDGE

The video below will show you the Nexus One with the latest Android 2.1 being played and tinkered around with by one lucky guy. Take note that the video was disabled before from YouTube and other sites maybe because the company hates to give leaks and loves to give excitements.

Nexus One rumored spec (based on the leaked pictures):

The concern of the mobile enthusiasts and mobile literates as long with great mobile phone manufacturers are Google’s plan to hi-jack and fight its own Android powered devices that manufactured by others. Like we have the HTC Hero, Xperia X10, etc. Well,  we all know that Android are present in many devices and in the market now. Android is really a great threat for Symbian plus that Androids are getting more popular. Aside from Symbian, another great foe of the Android is the Apple iPhone and we should watch this fight between iPhone and Android. Being the most popular mobile device in U.S.A., threat to iPhone should not be ignored.

Set on Jan5, 2010 Google will be holding a press conference and it is expected that the company will be revealing the new phone.

Personal thoughts:

In the marketing world, Symbian competitors are growing faster and Symbian is now in a great threat with Android. It seems that the only hope to stop the threat is to release the next generation of Symbian OS. We can’t say how Google and HTC will baffle its many competitors. Never say it’s “The End” because we cannot tell what will happen next. Nokia is set and ready to declare soon the Symbian^2 and Symbian^3 for their devices. CES and MWC 2010 are also on its way and I’m sure dozens of new devices will be showcased.

What do you think will happen next after the Nexus One will be introduced to mass?

Looking forward to what Google has to say on Jan 5th. I also hope Nokia has something to respond with at CES or MWC.

Hey mark, tnx so much for visiting. BTW, maybe Google will just announced the phone to the public in Jan05 and will not launch it on the market for the same month. If this happens then theres a great chance of some manufacturers to cover and wash the threat when CES and MWC comes.

i think we have a common also, but i was hooked up by this SE phone, the Xperia x10 haha.I like it and the only reasons that I cant get it its because the price will be expected to reach $800, I am not sure of that but lets hope X10 will be on $500 – $700

wow! now this one is definitely something to watch out for. as far from what i read in the “rumored” specifications, it has everything! what more can one ask for? basing on the video, it doesn’t even seem to slow down. touching the screen at empty areas causes a ripple effect, not really necessary but still beautiful to look at. just crossing my fingers that this one won’t have a very high price tag, which seems to be a trend in recently released phones.
