I  Hope this useful N8 guide originally written by Leo Tech Malaysia will help you out there.

install qt in n8

How to get the OVI Store Back in N8

The procedure of getting back the OVI Store is little bit technical and time consuming .

Keep in mind, you have to keep the following stuff ready before you start !

1. Nokia Qt Package from wiki.forum.nokia (consist Nokia Qt 4.6 and Nokia Qt 4.7) – do a free download
2. Nokia Qt SDK – free to download
3. USB Cable- to connect with the PC

Steps to get back the OVI Store in N8

  1. Download Nokia Qt Package from wiki.forum.nokia and extract the package. There will be Qt 4.7 for Symbian^3 and Qt 4.6 for Symbian^3
  2. Copy both of the files (Qt 4.7 for Symbian^3 and Qt 4.6 for Symbian^3)to your Mass storage Nokia N8 and paste it
  3. After that, download the Nokia Qt SDK from the link given and installed it to your PC. The installation will take time, so be patient.
  4. After installation is done, connect your Nokia N8 to your PC. (Make sure the phone is set to Nokia Ovi Suite first)
  5. Wait till your PC fully detect the phone
  6. Then go Start > Nokia Qt SDK > Symbian and choose Install QtMobility to Nokia N8 device *This is the most important part
  7. It will prompt Ovi Suite and will start installing the appropriate application to your phone. Wait till the installation is finished.
  8. Then go to Tools > Software Update and sellect all the update you think its appropriate.
  9. After done updating the phone. Unplug the cable from your phone
  10. Go to File Manager and Install qt.sis and qtwebkit.sis from Qt 4.6 for Symbian^3 folder
  11. Then install qt_4_7_0_opengl.SIS from Qt 4.7 for Symbian^3

Have you updated your Nokia N8′s firmware to PR1.1 – the latest release ,if not please do it,that automatically brings you OVI store back(no need to follow this hard steps) and the same problem will not happen again(as Nokia realized the problem and solved in in the latest firmware ) ! Cheers !

    Hey Guys,

I am using Nokia E7-00 and I did the same mistake of hard resetting the phone n as a result “ovi Store” stopped working since it uses QT to get started n due to the reset QT was deleted. So I tried following the above mentioned steps, though I didnt go to all of them as the basic QT Package didnt get installed on my PC, but still, OVI store is now working on my phone.
    The given steps works…. Thanks a Lot…!!!

Thanks for the info. For my E7-00, it was a little different as I did not install QtMobility. I did the following:
    1. On phone: restore factory settings
    2. On PC: download Qt SDK from the wiki at http://www.developer.nokia.com
    3. Qt SDK (takes loooooong time!)
    4. Connect phone to PC
    5. On PC: Start / QtSDK /Qt473 / “install Qt473 for S^3 on device”
    6. … “install QtWebKit for Qt473 for S^3 on device”
    7. Disconnect phone from PC
    8. On E7, start OviStore, follow installation instructions.
    9. Done!

Another way is go to http://www.swf2go.com/downloads/qt/
where you can download the two required files to run directly on you E7 instead of downloading the SDK:
    - qt_473.sis
    - qtwebkit_473.sis

Don’t know why, but it did not work for me. Perhaps it was b’cos it was not from a fresh reset (I had tried many other things before running the 2 .sis files). Good luck!
