“

You will no longer be able to view your contacts on the web after January 24, 2012. Contacts will continue to work great on your Nokia phone. Syncing or backup will continue to work normally and your data will not be affected. You can also export your synced contacts to your personal computer at any time, even after web access is discontinued.”

There was enough news in the past about Nokia N9 ,we were eagerly  waiting to play with it. Later due to the time factor we all forgot N9 and started to expect the Windows Phone from Nokia . At this juncture ,N9’s arrival is becoming true and close .

It is learnt that Nokia sent the N9 to the FCC to get the approval for the wireless signals .

But Nokia seems to release N9 as a RND device ,the developers will get it to test the capabilities of Meego (the operating system inside) and develop applications for it.

Look and feel of the device seems to be  little bit outdated ,but no one have the real image of the N9 up to now.

FCC documents reveal that the N9 will feature broad GSM and WCDMA support, including support for GSM bands 850, 1900, 1800 and 1900, and WCDMA bands I, II, IV, V and VIII.  That makes the device a good fit for either T-Mobile or AT&T in the United States.  FCC test reports also confirm WiFi and Bluetooth support. Anyhow the N9 can work on pretty much any GSM network around the world.

Accessories  for N9 : Nokia N9 will use a BL-4D battery (1200mAh Li-ion) and it will come with a WH-701 one-piece wired headset.

Release date of Nokia N9 may be somewhere in June 2011 ,sources say .

Nokia has been showcased the NFC capabilities of the C7 in the WIMA Congress  on April 2011. Many of you have not known about the NFC chip, inside of your new Nokia C7. NFC stands for Near Field Connectivity ,a smart way to use your phone as a contact less paying device ,you can perform many more contact less activities like using as a bus ticket etc  .

The inbuilt NFC Chip was not activated when the C7 shipped(Earlier units) . The Symbian^3 Operating System shipped with Nokia C7 was not capable of using the CHIP. But  Nokia announced that ,the new Symbian Anna update to your C7 will bring the chip into action soon.

Nokia is closely working with the developers to bring  more uses to the NFC in the near future .

Nokia announced two more new devices today via their press release and online events web site. Nokia E6.00 and the X7 are now official . We have had a sneak peak of the Nokia X7 already here.The interesting thing here to note is ,the new code name for the UI this phones have –Symbian Anna .

We had enough rumors about the Nokia X7’s release in USA  for last few months and finally all stop at one point ,where the news reached us about the cancellation of the releases. But now it is confirmed that Three – UK is releasing the X7 soon.

Nokia  announced that they have made Symbian platform   open now.

Earlier the source code was available from the Symbian Foundation to a certain level . But after the closure of Symbian Foundation it was stopped for some time.  This announcement has been creating some pleasant waves among the Symbian community and developers .

“As we committed when we launched this blog, Nokia is making the latest version of the Symbian platform’s source code available to our platform development partners. We are excited about the completion of the transfer period, during which code delivery from the Symbian Foundation has now been replaced by an open and direct model from Nokia.

As Nokia announced in February, our plan is for Windows Phone to be our primary smartphone strategy. While Nokia and Microsoft are working on a definitive agreement between the two companies and we have begun working on product collaboration, Nokia plans to ship at least 150 million Symbian smartphones and to continue deliver innovation and software updates to the platform. To achieve all of this, we need the collaboration with our platform development partners and continue to value an open way of working.” Nokia

What are the benefits of an open Symbian Platform for you and me ?

• Since the source code of the Operating System is available for every one ,there are chances to get more innovative new UI versions.
• Ie : If you are aware of Android  OS ,you might have heard about the big number of custom firmware available online for free ,now we too have the opportunity to get new custom firmware to our existing devices.
• More individuals and Companies may take interest in developing the Symbian OS further

The leading Chinese security software company NetQin is on   top of the controversy.  It has been reported that ,NetQin covertly  installs a malware via it’s Virus Guard software and charges the user a fee of 2RMB (US$0.30)to remove it . The news first came from the China’s state TV. Follow ups have been made by all the famous Tech blogs like CNet,ZDNET etc.

Even though NetQin has refused this claims today via a reply  sent to Techcrunch ,The software from NetQin is banned from China’s three leading mobile phone service provider’s app stores .Interestingly Nokia too withdrew their support for the NetQin software even most of the Nokia’s Chinese versions are  being used with NetQin software .

NetQin’s reply on this issue sent to the Techcrunch is quoted here : .

Recently ,.I have written a  post about the best part of the NetQin’s Mobile Guard software and still using it in my phone. Thank god ,I did not install the Antivirus software in my phone from NetQin’s Apps menu . Guys you are still safe if  you did not install the NetQin’s Antivirus software and you are not in China ,I guess.

02.02.2011– Kyle Roberts, owner of the Oklahoma City-based film company Reckless Abandonment Pictures, has released a music video featuring local independent singer-songwriter Denver Duncan.

Set to Duncan’s original song, “Stalker,” the video is the first to be shot entirely with Nokia’s new N8 smartphone.

In the video, posted to YouTube on Jan. 31, Duncan is stalked on a social networking site by Oklahoma City resident Jenna McCarthy, then he returns the favor by stalking her back. Ultimately the two meet in person and enjoy an afternoon together in Bricktown.

“It all came together very quickly and seamlessly, about two days total,” Roberts said. “Denver and Jenna were incredibly professional and easy to work with, and the online stalking concept is funny because it’s so true to life, and well-timed considering Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.”
Nokia offered Roberts free use of the phone, based on the YouTube success of the “Sarsparilla Girl” music video he directed for local band Dr. Pants with an iPhone 4. Roberts has entered the video in the wireless company’s “Nokia N8 Producers” contest.

Nokia has announced their decision of making Windows 7  phone on their own hardware on 11/02/2011 in London.

• Some parts of Software services like Search(Bing) etc will be handled by Microsoft in windows phone.
• Hardware fully developed by Nokia.
• Microsoft will continue to invest in the development of Windows Phone and cloud services so customers can do more with their phone, across their work and personal lives

• As per Nokia they are not abandoning Symbian or Meego Immediately ,but since their Major shift towards MS WP7 as the primary device there will be a sudden fall in Symbian based app developments and businesses

How Symbian will die ?

• Applications are important for Smart Phones. Developers target the hi-end smart phones as such users always interest on buying new innovative apps for their devices.
• Since Nokia is focusing on WP7,people work for Symbian know that there is no future for them.
• All third party developers will stop developing Symbian Based applications.[Hope @janole started to design Gravity for WP7 already !]
• Investing on Symbian Based app development,R&D is not wise anymore as plight of this OS is unknown and un stable .
• Nokia will be the sole  supporter of  Symbian based apps development for some time as they have to take care of their sold millions of Symbian Smart phones .
• Symbian community consists of developers,bloggers,writers ,designers will switch on to other platforms and more general areas of mobile technology in order to survive ,and lose interest on Symbian even Nokia produces new phones on it as plight is already known .
• Symbian is still used by DoCoMo ,the Japan’s biggest Mobile phone company and service providers successfully ,but for the rest of the world Nokia is the force behind Symbian. Symbian may die partly soon.

What will happen to OVI Store ,OVI Music Nokia Maps ,Beta Labs ?

• Nokia says to improve the Apps store with Microsoft ,the OVI Store client may run in two version to support WP7 platform and Symbian Platform
• Nokia Maps will be the core in Windows mobile ,I am scared some times you may have to pay some sort for services or forced to see advertisements as per the new alliance .
• Beta Labs will continue to offer Symbian and Windows based apps for Nokia Phones
• We may have some more new feature rich app sites for Nokia phones.

Excited to see the Nokia-WP7 phone this much early !

What you are seeing here is the upcoming Nokia’s first WP7 powered smart phone . This Nokia’s first windows phone 7 Images are revealed today by Endgadget technology blog.

It looks like most of the Samsung and HTC big touch screen phones in the market. The detailed specs of the Nokia-WP7 phone is not available yet.Hopefully I guess that the processor should be minimum 1GHZ and the RAM should be not less than 512MB.Like to see the clear black display,over 8MP AF camera in the Nokia WP7 phone ,but my insight says Nokia will offer an EDof (Fixed Focus )camera with this device.

Nokia-WP 7 phones seems to be around the corner . Will you invest on a New Hi -End Symbian phone as for now ?

Following the Nokia’s announcement about Joining Microsoft to produce Windows 7 phone ,the prices of Symbian devices started to fall . Nokia N8 was priced at  $ 549 at Amazon.com and now reduced to $ 399.

Although the Symbian is being abandoned by Nokia now,N8 is a best camera device at current times.
If you like to have a best camera with you ,consider buying N8 ,but , folks on the Twitter says there is a chance to get more price cut soon for Symbian powered Nokia devices.

You can check the firmware 13.0.16′s availability from your device by just pressing #*0000# in dialer and select “check for updates”

No folks ,I had to change this as Nokia offering the update   via Software Update menu this time .

Go to Applications  Menu >>Software Update >>now you will see the Availability of Device Software >>update it !

My Twitter time line is flooded with lot of tweets about an article “Why we blame Nokia?” written by the_ultimate111 at Livejournal.com . It is like slapping on your face ,the way this guy presented the truths .There are lot “yes I never noticed” types of truths and facts about Nokia.

The strategy planning of Nokia

Nokia started in 1865 as a paper mill and grown little by little reached this current position as a global leader of mobile phone because of the Vision it had.

So ,Nokia should have had a vision and the strategy to achieve it ! true.

1. Nokia is a major corporation and a quite recognized brand, which can be compared to Coca-Cola in terms of global penetration. Practically it is hard to find people in the world, who have access to cellular communication and aren’t aware of or haven’t used Nokia products. It appears that there is maximum people in the world, who have their opinion on Nokia products either it is positive or negative.

2. Nokia almost ultimately controlled the world’s cell phone market for more than a decade. People tend to think of Nokia as an undisputed global leader, so any negative information about it, no matter of its nature or impact is perceived as a sign of the company’s decline, regardless of what is really happening. For example the news about reformatting Ovi Music service are not negative, but it was perceived as negative just because there was a word “closing”.

3. Generally, people can’t understand complicated process and see nuances. They don’t want to get deep into details of events and don’t want to rank different factors according to their real importance.

4. People can’t understand that success and failure story have their temporal and relative dimensions. Many people tend to think that graphics showing up or showing down are illustrating a trend which will work forever, not realizing that it’s always a temporal phenomenon. – Written by the_ultimate111

Bottom Line : I agree with this guy in all terms ,but I keep in mind that all companies have their on pros and cons while I tried to play a video in my Ill-fated N97 and got crashed .
